Watch Hill Inn, the newest addition from the team behind Rhode Island’s renowned Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn, is now open for summer reservations. During a recent visit to Ocean House, we had the chance to view these properties from the outside, and we’re thrilled about the latest offering. Positioned just downhill from Ocean House, the Inn occupies the community’s oldest building and provides unobstructed views of Little Narragansett Bay. It also offers convenient access to all the shops, restaurants, and attractions, including the famous Flying Horse Carousel, in Watch Hill.
In the past, this small village attracted notable guests such as Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Andrew Mellon, Clark Gable, and Henry Ford, who traveled via an electric trolley from downtown Westerly to the charming Watch Hill. By the late 19th century, the building was operating as a luxury hotel. However, the 1938 hurricane destroyed all but two of Watch Hill’s original hotels: Ocean House and Watch Hill Inn. Over time, Watch Hill Inn fell into disrepair until a 2006 renovation revitalized it as a collection of private condos.
The latest renovation has transformed the hotel once again, now featuring charming apartment-style accommodations ideal for families and young couples.
Reservations are now open for stays from late May onward for its 18 duplexes, which vary in size from 650 to 4000 square feet. Each unit includes a custom kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a stove, along with full or partial views of Little Narragansett Bay. Many units also offer terraces and fireplaces. Guests will have access to amenities available at Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn, such as a full-service spa, multiple restaurants, a croquet lawn, a pool, meeting rooms, and much more.
