As part of a growing trend in the hospitality industry focusing on health and fitness, Westin Hotels has initiated a nationwide search for its first resident running concierge in the US. This individual will lead group runs for hotel guests.
Running enthusiasts who love to travel are encouraged to apply for the RunWestin Concierge role. The chosen candidate will serve as an on-site running expert, traveling around the country to assist guests in preparing for various Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathons throughout the year.
This concierge will act as a personal running coach for North American races, providing training and race advice, leading warm-up runs, and managing the service’s social media presence.
This initiative is one of the latest wellness programs from major international hotel brands aimed at health-conscious guests.
For instance, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts offers a “Fairmont Fit” program, which includes fitness equipment, mp3 players, bicycles for loan, and running clubs at select locations.
Similarly, New York’s boutique hotel INK48 provides a runner’s kit that includes a pre-loaded iPod shuffle, sports watch, running belt, water bottles, and a map of the Hudson River running path.
In collaboration with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathons, Westin Hotels also provides VIP Marathon packages for running guests. These packages include bib pick-up, pre-race pasta dinners, access to the post-race VIP Recovery Tent, and ice bags delivered to hotel rooms.
These VIP packages are available in race markets such as Montreal, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, with additional races planned for 2014.
The application deadline for the running concierge position is June 30. More details on how to apply can be found on the RunWestin Concierge website.
