“Good surprises” await at Red Reflet Ranch, according to owner Bob Kaplan. Nestled in Ten Sleep, Wyoming’s Bighorn Basin, Red Reflet Ranch offers breathtaking adventures and stunning views. The natural beauty is awe-inspiring, and the management’s luxurious touches enhance the experience.

Guest ranches typically provide visitors with a taste of Western life on a working estate, but Red Reflet Ranch goes beyond that, turning enthusiastic visitors into extended family by the end of their stay.

Bob and Laurence Kaplan bought the “trophy ranch” in 2001 during their retirement. Previously competitors in the baby products industry, they never planned to profit from the land. Instead, they wanted to enjoy their retirement surrounded by wilderness and family. Laurence explains that such beauty is too grand to keep to themselves.

Without prior experience visiting guest ranches, the Kaplans had no model to follow for their hospitality venture. They drew from their global travel experiences, focusing on the best and most welcoming aspects they encountered.

Despite Wyoming’s rugged reputation, the Kaplans transformed 33,000 acres of wilderness into a semi-tamed Western playground. The ranch accommodates up to 20 guests, with three luxury chalets offering panoramic views of the Bighorn Mountains and iconic crimson cliffs, whose reflections in the ponds inspired the ranch’s name.

Guests can fly directly to Red Reflet’s private airport or arrange for transportation from a nearby commercial hub, with Worland being the closest.

Upon arrival, guests are introduced to their primary modes of on-site transportation—horses and ATVs. The rest of the itinerary is tailored to their interests, whether it’s skeet shooting, cattle herding, barrel racing, trail riding, zip lining, trout fishing, playing tennis, hiking, climbing, or other activities. A ranch photographer discreetly captures these moments.

Although it’s a working ranch, guests enjoy luxurious accommodations. Each chalet features ranch-style furnishings, abundant natural light, stone fireplaces, hot tubs, luxury bath products, hotel-style amenities, and impressive local wall mounts.

Chalet pantries are stocked with fresh produce from Red Reflet and nearby farms for leisurely breakfasts, while lunch and dinner are served family-style at the main lodge. The Kaplans engage guests with interesting conversations, sharing local insights, discussing wine, local authors, and community landmarks, and educating about regional wildlife.

Families visit Red Reflet to step out of their comfort zones and create lasting memories through unique experiences. With a wide range of activities and the ability to customize experiences, there is something for every age, ability, and interest.

Bob, the land expert and local guide, and French-born Laurence, who adds a European flair to her Western hospitality, ensure a perfect stay. Laurence can arrange nature observatory hikes with floral identification, while Bob shares his passion for local wildlife, showing the best spots for elk and pronghorn sightings and teaching the “Code of the West.”

Exploring the vast property, guests experience Wyoming’s diverse landscapes, each offering a unique glimpse of the Equality State’s beauty. The combination of stunning views, hospitality, and endless “good surprises” at Red Reflet Ranch creates an unforgettable experience.

Red Reflet Ranch is an all-inclusive, exclusive guest ranch with limited availability throughout the year.
